For sharpening we recommend using something delicate on the blade such as a sharpening stone or a file but any sharpening system you have will work. The answer is YES!! Tornado Seats are completely waterproof. If you get them dirty, dusty, or even sandy you can blast them off with a hose. Over Time, if you use the seat outside often you will want to wipe the chair down to keep the Plastics moving free and smooth. A simple Damp Cloth and water works great. You can also use W-D 40 or most any lubricant for a very slick effect.
